Music Special
I wrote about Pandora back here and I know some of the bloggers that I read use it too. Tim Westergren, the founder of Pandora, has been going around the country holding Town Hall meetings with Pandora listeners and tonight he was in Central Florida. Since I’ve been listening for several months and have written about it before, I got a personal invitation. (Or maybe he just emailed everyone that registered with a Central Florida ZIP code…. Oh, tangential funny ubi: Wanna guess what ZIP code is registered WAY more than any other?) We met at The House Blend CafĂ© which is a little outside my neighborhood so I’d never been there before. I think we ended up with about 60 people; it was… cozy (sardine-like).
But, how cool is it that the founder of ANY online service would come to your town and say, “Hey, let’s get together, have some coffee, maybe a sandwhich, and chat about where this online thing might go.”? To be honest, going into a situation like that where I don’t know anyone makes me a little uncomfortable. And I ended up sitting in the back and not contributing to the conversation. But I listened. And I heard some really COOL stuff! (There were one or two questions about things that are explained in the site’s FAQ, but I know how hard it is to get people to RTFM and Tim answered everything graciously.) My mind started going in ten different directions so I’ll do another post when I have time to organize my thoughts a bit. In the meantime, make sure you check out Pandora and think about what features you think would make it better. You can always email suggestions to them, but Tim might come and ask you. I feel so freakin’ special!
Yeah, this is a terrible photo, but it gives you an idea of what our meetup looked like.Technorati tags: Music Special~blog~personal~otoh~pandora

Well, either you’re really and truly special, or my e-mail from him got routed to my junkmail! Either way, I’m blown away by the grassroots approach he takes in running his service. I do love Pandora. My only complaint is that if I skip to many songs the service suggests, I’m stuck listening for an hour. That being said, I’ve discovered a lot of great music by just listening to the suggested song list!

I love Pandora. It really has helped me find a decent amount of new bands to check out.
