There’s a new world coming. Universal Orlando announced yesterday that they plan to open The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at their Islands of Adventure theme park. But don’t line up for tickets just yet; it will take a couple years to build and may not open until summer 2010.

I’m not a fan of theme parks [or anyplace with big crowds], but I do enjoy the Harry Potter series of books and movies. And the brand certainly has potential for some really good interactive experiences. [Can I be on your Quidditch team, Heather Anne?]

Of course, I have to go experience this whenever it’s open. In the meantime, July is going to be Potterific.
You know, I love amusement parks – when they’re empty. I love the rides, love the theme, but it’s the one place I don’t like to be around masses of people – lines, fanny packs (or bum bags as the Brits say), socks with sandals. It’s too much, but Harry Potter? That will be enough to draw me in, and it will open at the perfect age for Audrey to go. Sweet.
Oh, we are SO on the same Quidditch team, Tim.
It looks like a beautiful place. I was just in Orlando recently and it was quite $$$$ to visit all these theme parks. Once was enough to last me a lifetime. But I might have to come back one more time for this one..
will harry potter still be ‘in’ in 2010?
