I posted this photo last year just before classes resumed. I like to wear this button when returning from a break and I had it on Monday — the first day back for students.
It has been harder to find buttons the last few years (since the local head shop and record store both went out of business). A few weeks ago I was in a Walmart (don’t ask) and saw BUTTONS! They were in sets of seven buttons for $1.97. Singe buttons would usually run $1.00 or $1.50 each. I looked over the selection and saw several that I would wear. “Look,” I said, “I found a gold mine.” I ended up buying four sets that include such gems as:
Forever I walk among the ignorant
It’s been lovely — but I have to scream now
Take my advice — I’m not using it
Ever stop to think — and forget to start again?
Never miss a good chance to shut up
Not the brightest crayon in the box now are we?
Never underestimate the stupidity of boys in large groups

I used to collect buttons… I love them! I have a cigar box full of them. I haven’t thought about them in a while. Of course, I have many that are not suitable for school, and many of the rest would be over the head of my students! I need to look for my collection and dust it off…
Yeah, I have a few that are NSFW. I don’t necessarily have a problem with going over their heads though. ~Tim

I have fave that I wear on my hat.
It says:
“Sorry I didn’t make it to church - I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian”
I love buttons SO much! HHNT!

I fear Wal-Mart–its hugeness, its self-check-out stands that serve symbolically to me like intelligence tests I am doomed to fail, its grimy floors, its constant threat level of Defcon 4 to my inner snob.
But on a completely unrelated note, I found some awesome buttons today in an unlikely retail establishment that might wind their way to your mailbox Monday. My favorite button is still GANDALF FOR PRESIDENT, but I also like the one that says I FEAR CLOWNS: ESP. THE ELECTED ONES.
Har har.
Back to the voodoo doll I’m stitching.

I found my box of buttons in my closet this week! And it’s true… one of the hardest things about moving from high school to elementary (again) was that the younger they are, the less they get and/or appreciate my humor!

I think the one I could most benefit from, personally, is “Never miss a good chance to shut up”.
I think most people would agree with me.
Nah, rant away. You do it so well. ~Tim
