There is so much I don’t understand. Here’s another one. You stop at a red light. [And by "you" I don't necessarily mean YOU, of course. I'm giving YOU the benefit of the doubt....] And then, while the light is still red, while there are still half a dozen cars between you and the intersection, you creep forward. It’s just a few inches. After all, you can’t really GO anywhere what with the red light and all the other cars in front of you.
And then a few seconds later you inch up a little more. [Could we still inch up if we switched to the metric system?] The entire duration of the red light you creep forward a little at a time. Nowhere to really go and apparently oblivious to what a waste of gas it is. [Bet you'd sit still if you had to push the car those few inches instead of just easing the pressure under your foot!] If there was room for you stop up there, why didn’t you stop up there in the first place? And what have you really gained if you’re six inches closer to the bumper in front of you? [I'd have gotten home 0.2 seconds earlier, but there was a car in front of me with a bike rack....]
And you should know, If I’m sitting anywhere near you in traffic while you [not YOU] creep forward, I’m thinking, “What an idiot. Can’t you sit still for two minutes?”
And, when the light changes, may I [emphatically] suggest: hang up the freakin’ phone and drive….

It’s ADHD behind the wheel.
And a little bit of keeping up with the Joneses in a vehicular way. I can creep, creep, creep.
The cell phone thing is annoying, but how about the people who shave, change a baby’s diaper, read a novel, or complete a makeup application while hurtling down the interstate?
And apropos of nothing, I would love to take out the air of every Hummer tire in Orlando.
There are lots of annoying and dangerous activities that people engage in while behind the wheel. Talking on the phone just seems to be the most common lately. ~Tim

There are a couple of provinces in Canada that have banned the use of cells while behind the wheel. I hope the rest follow soon.
You are spot on when you talk about those idiots who spend 2 minutes or less, centimetering ahead. I also think ‘where’s that going to get you’ … how can anybody be in that much of a hurry to have to save maybe 15 centimeters of distance.
I think that’s it. Everyone is in too much of a hurry. ~Tim

I never creep.
But I do talk on the phone.
A lot.
I’m sorry.
It’s almost the only time I get to myself to have an adult conversation without being interrupted.

Thank you for not creeping. I hope you don’t get interrupted by a fender bender (or worse). ~Tim

agreed, i hate the creep… especially when i get all hip-o-crit and do it myself.
I’ve heard it said [somewhere] that we dislike most in others what we see in ourselves. ~Tim

I do talk on the phone from time to time, but usually I’m much too busy singing. It’s sad but true, I’m an in the car singin’ sensation! I often get a standing ovation and cheers for an encore. But I don’t creep. And I generally don’t get in a hurry. But I am frequently annoyed by idiot drivers.
I often sing in the car, too. But even there I usually keep it low. No one should be subjected to my singing voice, least of all some random stranger that just happens to be on the road at the same time. ~Tim

My pet peeve are the people that actually slow down when approaching intersections…with green lights. I don’t get it.
Well, they obviously don’t want to hit someone that might be running a red light and crossing in front of them! ~Tim

I like that bumper sticker - if you’re going to hug my ass, at least pull my hair. And don’t get me started on drivers on cell phones.
That’s funny — I haven’t seenthat bumper sticker. ~Tim

Well said! What a great post.
What about those drivers that swerve to the left just before they make a righthand turn? I guess they need to take it wide but I don’t quite know why.
Yeah, they’re a treat to drive behind! Either they’re going too fast or they just can’t drive [or both]. ~Tim
