Time now for the home-game version of a 3-Song Playlist. These three songs have something that links them together. [It's a pretty easy one, but it does go deeper than the titles]. No links or hints yet. [You can always look them up yourself if you're that anxious to find out.]

  • Hello, Mary Lou performed by Ricky Nelson, written by Gene Pitney
  • The Birds And The Bees performed bt Jewel Akens, written by Barry Stuart
  • You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet performed by Bachman Turner Overdrive, written by Randy Bachman

Do you know what links these three together? And [be honest] did you have to look them up or listen to them to figure it out?

Have fun!

Answers are now down here….

The theme, of course, is “big brown eyes”.

In Hello, Mary Lou:

You passed me by one sunny day
Flashed those big brown eyes my way
And ooh I wanted you forever more

In The Birds And The Bees:

When I look into your big brown eyes
It’s so very plain to see
That it’s time you learned about the facts of life
Starting from A to Z

In You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet:

She looked at me with big brown eyes
And said
You ain’t seen nothin’ yet
B-B-B-Baby, you just ain’t seen nothin’ yet

And here are links:

  1. I hope it’s not any sort of commentary on my age, but I knew this one right off the bat, even with the obvious omission of a certain Van Morrison song which would’ve been a dead giveaway.

It’s no commentary on your age — it’s a testament to the breadth and depth of your knowledge! ~Tim

  2. Thy were all 45RPM vinyl … c’mon, tell me that I am wrong.

Or three people that have never been to my house…. — I am, of course, looking for something a little more specific to these three. ~Tim

  3. . . .or Bob Marley or Fleetwood Mac, actually. Nothing like big brown eyes.

(And I only kinda cheated–the only song I didn’t know was “The Birds and the Bees,” and once I plugged it into iTunes I remembered it. )

    Good one!

Yeah, this one was fun. ~Tim
