There are two parts to this 3-SP Questery. First, what do the three movies have in common? [Can you answer without looking them up?] Second, what three songs are suggested by those movies? The answers and the songs will be posted in a few days.
- A Shot in the Dark (1964)
- Born Losers (1967)
- First Blood (1982)
The answers are below….
Here’s a hint:
- A Shot in the Dark (1964) starring Peter Sellers
- Born Losers (1967) starring Tom Laughlin
- First Blood (1982) starring Sylvester Stallone
This questery was admittedly difficult because… I’m weird… and often obtuse…. [I'm not rich enough to be eccentric.] But these three films did introduce characters that appeared in a number of sequels. A Shot in the Dark introduced Inspector Clouseau who continued in the Pink Panther movies. Except… I found out while compiling this 3-SP that even though it was filmed first, the studio didn’t think it was very good and shelved it. Then they released it three months after The Pink Panther. Oh well. Born Losers brought us Billy Jack. And First Blood was the first in the Rambo series.
Since this was already a rather screwy list, I took further liberties in my choices of songs. A Shot in the Dark had three songs by Henry Mancini, but not the familiar Pink Panther theme music (or the cartoon character… or the diamond…) but I still pick that song as most representative of the series. This clip has the music and scenes from some of the movies. IMDB didn’t have any soundtrack info for Born Losers. I saw part of it recently on one of the cable channels, but I wasn’t really thinking about the music at the time. So keeping with my convoluted logic I pick One Tin Soldier by Coven which was featured in the movie Billy Jack. First Blood had a [pretty forgettable] song over the closing credits, but the second film in that series had a song [equally forgettable], Peace in Our Life, that is notable for being performed by Frank Stallone (Sly’s brother) if nothing else.

Could it be that all three actors represent different types of your personality?
Peter Sellers, comic genius?
Tom Laughlin, ride-em cowboy, solitary Billy Jack figure riding across a stony landscape?
Sylvester Stallone, rippled and muscled?
(Although I heard that Stallone is actually quite short, and you’re pretty tall.)
Okay, maybe not that.
Could it be. . .
That all three titles have implications of negativity? Shot, Losers, Blood?
I have no earthly idea.

well, i looked up the first two movies (i was vaguely familiar with the stallone movie not because i have seen it but because it is hard to not know about stallone’s rambo start…)
anyway…The Born Losers…isn’t that the movie with the theme of Billy Jack? I remember seeing this movie when I was a kid in the early 70’s…the song is One Tin Soldier which I love…
I have no clue what these three movies have in common except that they all may have started a series of movies with reurring characters (Clouseau (sp?), Billy Jack, and Rambo)
and if that is the case, the song suggested would be “Oops we did it again”
