There are apparently several of these programs around. I saw a report recently of one that has a big Mastiff for the kids to read to. But I don’t remember where I saw it and my brief search didn’t turn up that one. But this will do:

Let's do Something Cheap and Superficial
sweet! my oldest had some trouble reading too and i found letting her read to her younger siblings helped too.
my dog won’t leave me in peace long enough to read. he is a needy needy beagle who apparently doesn’t approve of book learning…how the hell did end up in my house?
It is a great idea–except I was afraid of dogs when I was little. Maybe that’s why I learned to read super early from Sesame Street–maybe someone threatened me with a doggie reading partner.
Hmm.
I may have repressed this.
