Hello, World
If written words could echo
would they vibrate on the page?
Or simply shrink and fade away
Leaving just a void?

I’m with the Banned
26 September to 3 October 2009 is Banned Books Week, an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. The American Library Association’s BBW site is here.
I really like this:
Individuals may restrict what they themselves or their children read, but they must not call on governmental or public agencies to prevent others from reading or seeing that material.
from the Books Challenged in 2008-2009 publication.
Our school media specialist offered this little quiz matching quotes from challenged books.
If you are here on my site I’m reasonably certain that you read. This week, make sure you encourage everyone else to read too. OK?

Saturday in the Park
Most Saturday mornings for about the last seven years I have started my day with a Tai Chi class in the local Central Park. One of my favorite things is to watch the light change as the sun rises. [Class is from 7:30 - 9:30] I often think that I need to take my camera with me to share some of the glory.
So here is the view across the park just before class started this weekend.
And here it is about 45 minutes later.
And then about an hour after that.
If you look closely you might see there are two fountains in the park. This one.
Here’s a closer look.
The other fountain isn’t as interesting.
At the other end of the park is a rose garden where I saw this
and this
and this
and this
All things considered, not a bad way to start the day.

What’s in a Name?
I went to the video store tonight and rented “Changeling” and “Transformers” and I swear it wasn’t until I got in the car that I thought… “Hey, they’re like the same title!”

Get Ya Some
Last week in a double 3-SP post poor Fred and Ginger crashed and burned. As promised though, there are other Freds and Gingers in other universes and this post is dedicated to couples in more hopeful situations.
Bonus points if you know which Monkees song almost appeared here!
